
HMS Kenya. during her voyage escorting Convoys in 1941 to the U.S.S.R a fierce Arctic Storm prevented her from turning for Three Days. During which a Royal Marine Sergeant was lost Overboard, the Convoy was Attacked by Enemy Air- craft, but all were safely brought into Murmansk, Russia.

I have started this Web Site in order to bring to the forefront the Sterling work, that so many Sailors and Royal Marines gave the best days of their life for, and also for the Association which is now in being for the Last 25 Years, and regularly meet each year in the City of Derby, which Adopted our Cruiser in Warship Week 1942, Now she served for a further period of 22 years, and our Association now encompasses all of these Commissions, she also fought in the Korean War 1949/51. until finally being De-Commissioned in 1962, towed to Faslane, and broken up for Scrap.

The Convoy was Attacked by Enemy Air- craft and submarines, but all were safely brought into Murmansk, Russia, and then to carrying out the Perfect Combined Operations Raid in 1941 during the Norwegian Campaign on Vaagso,inflicting severe damage on Enemy installations, Whilst on this Operation she was painted Pink, which became known as Mountbatten Pink, this was done to confuse the German Gunners, as they used a Pink dye in their Shells to Range their Gun fire and Accuracy. She was the only Royal Navy Warship to fly the Hammer and Sickle Flag of the U.S.S.R on an Operational Sortie.
